Skillfully taken photos of new babies make the viewers’ hearts beat faster. What makes them so touching? It’s the right poses, the carefully selected shooting angle, and the high-quality props! Professional newborn photographers never scrimp on props, and this can be noticed in every photo they take.
Newborn photography invented to capture the cutest moments of the baby’s first weeks is a separate kind of art, which has its own rules. One of these rules is, “Beauty first, accuracy isn’t so important,” therefore the newborn’s clothes and the objects around it in the frame must be carefully selected. The size of the hat, pramsuit, shorts, and other props must match the baby’s parameters, or the photo will not look so “sweet”.
Subdued pastel shades are a trend followed by today’s newborn photography. Can it be the color shade of the contemporary society’s mood? After all, sometimes a bright color adventure is ready to shake our mind and awaken new creative ideas in us.
What style to choose to set up a newborn session, what props to use, what color must dominate? Maybe you should succumb to new trends, or maybe listen to the photographer’s advice, or try and invent something of your own? Of course all of these “maybe” have the right to exist. I’d like to discuss one of the possible solutions, and this is the “family’s cultural and household traditions”.
